Mario Frangoulis，1967年出生於南非辛巴威，父母是希臘人。四歲時被帶回希臘雅典﹐與姨媽同住。Mario 8歲開始在唱詩班唱歌，11歲在學校的話劇表演中扮演Andrew Lloyd Webber (安德魯·洛依·韋伯)的音樂劇"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat"中 Issachar的角色，從小展露歌唱的天分。
17 歲時到London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama接受音樂與戲劇訓練。求學期間﹐Mario 已活躍於演出Les Miserables及Phantom of The Opera等音樂劇。
天生渾厚有力的嗓音，獲邀參與「歌劇魅影」與「悲慘世界」演出而嶄露頭角。 他的驚人天賦也立刻受到世界級男高音AlfredoKraus賞識，並成為他唯一私人教授的學生，且被遴選為"西城故事"中Tony的角色。
1991~1992年間師隨男高音家Alfredo Kraus學習﹐其後3年間再到美國Juilliard School繼續進修﹐並且跟多個樂團如British Youth Orchestra, Royal Opera House, Greek National Opera House Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra合作演出。
1993年更於費城拿下Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition冠軍獎項。完成學業後﹐Mario從未間斷演出﹐1998年Sony Classical 把他簽下成為專屬錄音藝人﹐並於翌年於希臘推出兩張現場演唱錄音專輯及首張個人專輯﹐均獲得金或白金唱片銷量。
2002年推出首張國際個人專輯 “Sometimes I Dream” 。
