Daniel Libeskind

In presence of the US-star-architect Daniel Libeskind, who planed
the particular shopping- and leisure center in Berne, the
new landmark of the City of Berne was inaugurated by the mayor the
beginning of October. The client (investor) was an affiliate of
which invested 500 Mio. SFr. in the project. The center,
a little town with a surface of 81,000 square-meters is based on a
so far worldwide unique concept; shopping-center, residency for
senior citizens, hotel- and leisure events are part of the building
complex. Besides shopping, there is mainly Asian gastronomy, cinema
and a particular called (with bath powder from
Beppu-shi). The center can be reached by railway in only eight
minutes from Berne Central Station and is located directly at the
motorway exit Berne Bruennen. In the neigborhood, a new City district
with around 900 apartments is on the way of construction.

米国のスター建築家ダニエル・リーベスキンドゥ氏が設計した目新しい
ショッピングとレジャーの複合施設＜ウェストサイド＞は新しいベルンの
ランドマーク。
同氏も列席して１０月初めベルン市長によって落成式が行われた。
投資したのはミグロの子会社で５億スイスフランを投じた。
同センターは８１，０００平方メートルの広さにショッピングセンター、
高齢者用住宅、ホテル、レジャー施設等を含む小都市機能を持つ世界に類を
みないコンセプト。買い物の他にアジア料理、映画と＜ベルナックウァ＞
という名の特別な温泉施設（温泉成分は別府市から）がある。
同センターはベルン駅から鉄道で８分の距離で、ベルン・ブリュンネンの
インターチェンジ出口に直接アクセスしている。
近くにはおよそ９００戸の集合住宅がある新市街地がある。
